Since 1983, James R. Danson has been a luthier and repairer of thousands of bowed stringed instruments. In 2007, he opened this tiny studio in Halifax and became one of the trusted shop across Eastern Canada. 2. Halifax Folklore Centre

 

 

Halifax Folklore Centre is a unique music shop offering the sales of new, used, vintage, acoustic and electric stringed instruments since 1971. Thomas Dorward is the luthier and owner of this business which started exclusively on fretted stringed instruments but later on expanded the range of products to violin family instruments. They also provide a complete repair shop ranging from simple setups to complete restoration of any of the instruments. This music retail store is owned and operated by two musicians, Paul and Eilidh Buchanan.
