About this Model
This is a Concerto level violin by Beijing violinmaker Wang Wenqing. He's included carvings to add a special touch to the uniqueness of this violin. It comes in 2 designs - Fleur-de-Lys and Royal "English Jewel". His signature violin models are the slightly higher archings, giving the violin an extra resonance. The result is a violin with a nice full sweet voice. The violin is spirit varnished in seasoned amber. The engelman spruce is from Canada, known for their hardness, making a good full tone possible. Each instrument tonewood is tune individually to achieve the optimum resonance possible for that piece of wood. The bass bar of matching density is then used, to ensure the instrument produces a big, brilliant, deep and rich tone.
About the maker
Wang is a small workshop based in Beijing, and he only makes professional level violins and each violin is exquisitely made, to the highest level possible. He is well known in the strings music scene in Beijing, often approached to create special models for strings related events. He is also sought after by music academy in China to provide instruments for their to-be professional students. Despite the popularity of this instruments. he maintains a low profile.
In addition to violinmaking, this maker is also highly skilled in crafted works because of his younger days as an artistic craftsman some 20 years ago, making artistic wood carvings for furnitures and display ornaments that we associate with Emperors of ancient China. Chinese craftmanships are renowned worldwide for their fine craftmanship and even some carvings thought to be impossible were achieved. It is only natural that he extends his carving skills to his violin making as well.
